34-year-old producer, with a 9-year-old son. Born in the village of La Armenia where he currently has the farm called La Roca, from the age of 12 he took care of his mother due to the death of his father. Jorge in his childhood only studied until the 3rd year of primary school because he was dedicated to helping in the field work.
He is a fan of mountain biking and soccer, he likes to carry out different processes with his coffees in order to discover the different flavors and aromas that can be found in them.
LA ROCA farm, located at 1,857 masl, with 4.5 hectares in production with varieties such as caturro, geisha, Colombia, rosé bourbon. This farm is surrounded by natural reserves, waterfalls, an incomparable number of birds and has an excellent view of the coffee-growing mountains of Colombia.
Since 2017 he has dedicated himself to studying and developing coffee processes. He has been trained on several occasions with coffee and processes by Hernando Tapasco and Julian Cucuñame from Cuba Biotec, he has a diploma in coffee quality and drying processes carried out in Tecnicafe, in 2022 he was certified by the Coffee Quality Institute as Q Processing Level 1- Generalist
For several years it has been characterized by its excellent coffees, in 2018 it was the winner of the Millenialls coffee contest at the planadas expo, and in 2020 it was the absolute winner of the PLANADAS AROUND THE WORLD COFFEE AUCTION, managing to auction 4 lots on average of 10 USD/lb, it was also a finalist in the cup of excellence 2020 contest, its LA ROCA STATE coffee brand in the COFFEE MEDIA roasted coffee contest in Colombia ranked 5th in the Processes category, in 2022 ROCA STATE was the winner of the Top Roast contest, in the category of Traditional coffees. It was also selected among the ten best coffees for the fair in the United States in the city of Boston, in the contest carried out by the Colombian Cup of Excellence in 2022, it ranked third place with a Honey coffee, first place was obtained with one of our coffees in the national barista contest in Argentina, the participating Barista obtained first place, through the perfect love store a medal of recognition was obtained in Paris France
He was nominated in the COFFEE GROWER OF THE YEAR IN COLOMBIA category.
In 2020, he was invited by the cup of excellence contest as a volunteer for the selection process of the best coffee lots in Colombia.
He has taken Pre-Q courses, and in recent years he has also worked as a coffee physical analyst for the ASOPEP association.
The knowledge and learning from him has been shared with producers from the municipality of Planadas, producers from the indigenous reservation and ex-combatants of the Farc in different coffee processing workshops.
Currently, an alliance was made with the Association of ecological producers of plains, ASOPEP, to build the coffee and cocoa processing plant, which is already under construction.
