HISTORY:
Duberney Cifuentes embarked on his career as a coffee producer in 2004, cultivating coffee on land inherited from his mother in Planadas, Tolima, a region with a privileged environment of rivers, mountains, and volcanic lands that contributes to the uniqueness of his coffee. Trained as a forestry technologist, he gained a comprehensive perspective to perfect the techniques of specialty coffee production. In 2014, he introduced the first Gesha plants to his farm at an altitude of over 2000 meters, marking a distinctive feature in his production. In 2017, the fruits of his labor materialized with the Montreal estate, recognized with over 10 distinctions, including the second place in 2018 and the first place in 2023 in the "Cup of Excellence" competition in Colombia, an accolade that honors coffees with high-quality standards.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION:
The meticulous journey of crafting this exquisite Gesha Coffee begins with handpicked beans cultivated at an altitude above 2000 meters. After a meticulous density selection, the beans experience a 30-hour cherry fermentation. Following this, careful pulping and approximately 40 hours of fermentation take place, succeeded by a thorough washing process. The final stage unfolds during a meticulous 25 to 30-day drying process under shaded canopies.
