ROOTS: BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR COLOMBIAN COFFEE

At Forest Coffee, we believe that our deep connection to the land is the cornerstone of coffee’s future. As we step into 2025, our mission remains steadfast: sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Through our Roots, we’re reaffirming our commitment to preserving the environment, supporting farmers, and building a resilient, sustainable coffee industry for future generations.

Tackling Climate Change: A Collective Responsibility

Climate change is reshaping the coffee industry. Rising temperatures and erratic rainfall threaten coffee production in Colombia, making it increasingly difficult for farmers to sustain their livelihoods. At Forest Coffee, we are taking action to combat these challenges and restore balance to the land.

Reforest Project: Planting the Seeds for a Greener Future

One of our most impactful initiatives, the Reforest Project, is addressing climate change head-on. In 2025, we’re scaling up efforts by planting 50,000 native trees in key coffee-growing regions like northern Tolima and southern Caldas.

These trees:

  • Restore ecosystems by enhancing biodiversity.

  • Provide shade to protect coffee plants from temperature fluctuations.

  • Improve soil quality and boost water retention.

Through this project, we’re not just combating deforestation but ensuring a sustainable future for Colombian coffee.

Empowering Farmers: The Heart of Sustainability

Farmers are the backbone of the coffee industry. At Forest Coffee, we’re committed to support them with tools, resources, and knowledge to thrive amid environmental and economic challenges.

Regenerative Farming: Revitalizing the Land

By introducing regenerative farming practices, we’ve helped farmers improve soil health by 15%. These techniques include:

  • Crop rotation to maintain nutrient balance

  • Composting to enrich soil.

  • Eco-friendly methods that restore the land’s vitality.

Empowering farmers with these sustainable methods ensures long-term productivity and healthier farms.

Direct Trade Partnerships: Fair Compensation, Greater Impact

In 2024, farmers participating in our direct trade partnerships saw a 25% increase in income. These partnerships:

  • Guarantee fair compensation.

  • Enable farmers to reinvest in their farms and communities.

  • Foster a more equitable coffee supply chain.

Empowering Women and Communities

Sustainability is about more than the environment; it’s about uplifting people. Our initiatives, like the Huila Condor Project and Black Condor Project, focus on empowering women and underserved communities in Colombia.

Huila Condor Project: Amplifying Women’s Voices

This project supports 96 independent women farmers in Huila by:

  • Providing quality workshops, certifications and training.

  • Ensuring above-market payments for their coffee.

  • Offering a global platform to showcase their exceptional products.

Through these efforts, women are gaining financial independence and strengthening their businesses.

Celebrating Achievements and Looking Ahead

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made:

  • Environmental Impact: Reduced carbon emissions by 30% and restored 50 hectares of land.

  • Economic Impact: Increased farmers’ income by 25% through direct trade.

  • Community Impact: Engaged over 250 producers in educational workshops since 2020.

But this is just the beginning. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to expanding our impact and creating a sustainable future for Colombian coffee.

The future of coffee depends on collective action. By supporting initiatives like the Reforest Project, Huila Condor Project, and Black Condor Project, you can help preserve Colombian coffee and empower the farmers who make it possible.

Be part of this journey. Together, we can create a greener, fairer, and more resilient coffee industry—ensuring that our roots stay strong for generations to come.
